What is Ask Kimono and why does it need my data?

Ask Kimono is an AI-powered connection assistant that helps you organize, discover, and leverage your network. To provide personalized recommendations—like surfacing useful contacts, suggesting follow-ups, or summarizing conversations—we securely process your contact and interaction data. We only collect what’s necessary, never act on your behalf without approval, and give you full control over your access and data deletion.

What data does Ask Kimono collect?

We collect and process four types of data, only with your permission:

Contacts & Connections – Names, emails, phone numbers, job titles, and linked platforms (Google, iCloud, LinkedIn) for your first-degree network. Second-degree connections (mutual contacts) only when both parties opt in. Public relationship data when allowed by platform rules.
Email & Calendar Data – Email content (body and metadata) only when you ask Ask Kimono to summarize, draft, or pull context from threads. Option to limit access to metadata only (subject, sender, recipient, timestamp). Calendar details (meeting titles, participants, time) to help organize your schedule.
Engagement Patterns – Frequency and recency of interactions (calls, emails, meetings). High-level trends like “Top collaborators” or “Dormant contacts.”
Context for Recommendations & AI Training – Anonymized queries and interaction data to improve AI suggestions. No identifiable user data is ever used to train external models.

What does Ask Kimono NOT do?

We don’t resell your email or message content.
We don’t expose second-degree connections without consent from both parties.
We don’t send emails, schedule meetings, or create tasks without your explicit direction.
We don’t share data with advertisers or train third-party AI on your identifiable information.

How does Ask Kimono protect my data?

Encryption in transit and at rest for all data.
Strict access controls—only authorized AI systems can process your information.
Full user control: You can revoke access and delete your data at any time.
Regular audits to maintain security and compliance.

How do SMS and WhatsApp work with Ask Kimono?

If you opt in:

You can text Ask Kimono questions, get reminders, and receive suggestions without opening the app.
You can opt out at any time by texting “STOP.”
